Jay-Z thinks Rihanna’s off her rocker

Rihanna‘s mentor, rapper Jay-Z, is reportedly displeased by the singer’s decision to collaborate on a pair of musical remixes with her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown. The crooner pleaded guilty to attacking Rihanna in 2009 during a pre-Grammys argument in Los Angeles.

Jay-Z — the man responsible for introducing Rihanna to the pop-lovin’ masses — is allegedly livid that his protege is once again getting close to a man who pleaded guilty to brutally battering her.

RiRi is back together with her controversial ex, Chris Brown — at least musically. And Hova isn’t pleased.

A pair of songs featuring the singers arrived online late Monday, just hours after Chris hit the headlines for publicly tweeting birthday wishes to Rihanna. Brown sings on a sexually charged remix of Rihanna’s track, “Birthday Cake.” The Barbados-born singer — who turned 24 on Monday — can be heard putting down vocals on the remix of Chris’s up-tempo tune, “Turn Up The Music.”

The former First Couple of R&B have been estranged since Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault in 2009. The singer admitted to punching, biting and bruising Rihanna after a pre-Grammy Awards party.

Chris — currently under investigation for a drive-by phonejacking in Miami last weekend — is in the middle of a five-year term of probation over the assault.

Perhaps not surprisingly, their collaborations have added fuel to speculation that Chris and Rihanna are also reuniting romantically: A fate that has infuriated Jay-Z, insiders tell Radar Online.

Chris Brown and Rihanna back together… musically >>

“Jay was absolutely disgusted by what Chris did to Rihanna,” says a squeal. “Jay doesn’t understand how a man could ever lay hands on a woman; it just goes against who he is. Chris is absolutely dead to Jay; he wants nothing to do with him, ever. Now that Rihanna is hooking up with Chris and recording songs with him, Jay is deeply disappointed in her actions.”

Jay-Z is no stranger to such scandal: In 2004, backstage footage from the hip-hopster’s 1999 “Hard Knock Life Tour” emerged, showing the star pushing and slapping a woman in a crowded corridor. The arrival of daughter Blue Ivy with wife Beyoncé, however, has made the new dad more protective of the women in his life — including the young singer he first discovered in 2005.

“Jay has told Rihanna he will never give his blessing for what she is doing with Chris. He has told her [that] this isn’t going to end well; it never does. In Jay’s opinion, Chris has rage issues that he doesn’t think have been dealt with,” the Radar informant adds. “…Rihanna knows how Jay feels about Chris, but she doesn’t care. She is going to do what she wants.”

Chris Brown is “sad, cowardly little boy” >>

Jay-Z isn’t the only music industry heavyweight sounding off on Chris and RiRi’s collabo. Terius “The Dream” Nash, who produced the “Birthday Cake” tune, believes the exes working together can serve as an important message about forgiveness.

“It was Rih’s idea. Not only do we work together, but [Rihanna] is a friend of mine. And it’s like, ‘You wanna do something? Then cool, let’s do it.’ I don’t know how she got the logistics and how it happened. Maybe she’ll talk about it one day,” he told Billboard magazine Thursday.

“For me, it’s just music — two talented people doing a record together, doing two records together, and that’s what it was. It wasn’t about an incident that happened. The true thing, really, is to forgive, and you want to believe in people.”
