Push Girls

Push Girls, which follows a group of paraplegic and quadriplegic women, has been a critical hit for the Sundance Channel. It takes viewers into their lives and allows us to see their daily struggles and triumphs.

The series debuted June 4, and has become a source of inspiration for millions of people. Countless media outlets and television personalities have given Push Girls their stamp of approval. The primary cast consists of Angela Rockwood, Tiphany Adams, Mia Schaikewitz and Auti Angel.

In 2000, at the age of 17, Tiphany was in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. The injuries she sustained put her in a coma and left her paralyzed. Auti was a promising young dancer who became disabled in 1992 after her car was clipped and flipped multiple times on a freeway. She broke her back and lost movement from the waist down.

In 2001, Angela was also in a car accident that damaged her C4-C5 vertebrae severing her spinal cord. Unlike the other ladies, she’s a quadriplegic and deals with limited mobility on both her upper and lower body. Mia’s paralysis wasn’t brought on by outside trauma. At the age of 15, she was diagnosed with Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM), which eventually ruptured her spinal cord.
