Baby skin is tender and prone to irritations that our more weathered adult skin is immune to. Make sure you protect your baby's delicate skin with the following tips:
- SUNSCREEN!: Did I just scream? Well, sunscreen is important. VERY. Every time you go outside (cloudy and winter days too) your little needs to wear sunscreen. Find a good 45+ SPF baby-specific sunscreen. Don't forget sunscreen on; toes, ears, head, and back of necks.
- Hats are cool: Hats provide baby face protection from the sun and helps her enjoy the outside environment without having to squint so much.
- Ah, the air: Fresh air is good for all of us and your baby needs to get plenty of it. Diaper rash can sometimes clear up on it's own with a good dose of air. Let your little go sans clothing every once in a while -- but remember the sunscreen.
- Bathing: Baths can wreak havoc on baby skin so go easy. When your baby is very small you really only need good old H20 to keep her clean (it's not like she's rolling in mud is she). If you need to use soap use the most chemical free type you can find and only use a little. Baby creams are also not recommended for little babies and can actually dry your baby's skin out more than soften it.
