Sad news in my news box today; 13 month old Sophia Maria Silva was killed when her mother removed her from her car seat while Sophia's father was driving. Very sad, and my heart goes out to her parents, but you should never EVER take your baby out of her car seat while the car is moving. Not if she's crying, not if she's hungry, not for any reason. The news reports that Mr Silva's blood alcohol level was over the limit, but that's besides the point. A car accident can happen at any time - it may not be your fault. What if someone crashes into you? If your baby is crying, hungry, or simply needs some attention, pull over in a safe spot and take care of her. You can also continue driving until you get home, if you're close enough. But a baby in a moving car belongs in a car seat.
