Holiday fire safety tips

During the holidays fires become more common; which puts your children at risk. Here are some safety tips that can make the holidays safer for your whole family.

Never leave mobile little ones alone in a room where holiday candles are lit. It's also best to use wide, short candles as opposed to long tapered candles, as there's less chance of a baby or toddle knocking them down. Over 300 house fires are cause each year by Christmas tree issues; so...

• Always keep your Christmas tree watered.
• Never place your tree near heat sources like a wood stove or wall heater.
• Use holiday lights, not candles on your tree.
