There are plenty of pollutants in the world, and they all have the potential to cause harm to humans. Some of the most dangerous are even in your own house so it pays to be aware. Babies are especially susceptible because they're tiny in size and pollutants can invade their bodies easier than they can your adult-sized body. Three in-house pollutants to be aware of include: Volatile organic compounds (VOCS): These are substances that are released from chemical minded products and they quickly evaporate and spread around your home. You can cut down on exposure by using low or no-VOC paint in your baby's nursery, not wearing shoes in the house (chemicals get dragged in on your shoes), and by using natural, non-toxic cleaning supplies. Mold: Mold, while alive and natural is an actual pollutant. Your baby, if exposed to mold can get super sick - and so can you. The best defense against mold is to stop it before it start (or spreads). Read Carbon monoxide (CO): CO is a pollutant you can't see, smell, or taste. If your home is invaded by CO it can cause sickness and even death. The best way to be sure your home is free of CO is to install a simple CO detector and monitor.
