Pediatricians who are certified by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) must maintain up to date training on new trends in baby care, new medications for your child, and follows other important advances in medicine that could affect the care your baby receives. Just two years ago a University of Michigan study found that as many as 78% of U.S. hospitals don’t require board certification for their pediatricians. 70% of hospitals did require certification to be completed at some point by their pediatricians but overall, this is a matter of quality assurance for your baby that's possibly not being met. Your baby's doctor doesn't have to be certified but you should highly consider locating a certified doc to ensure your baby gets the best care possible. According to the ABP...
