Your purse or wallet: What's in your purse? Medications, small mints, gum, ink pens, a sharp nail file, coins, eye drops, make-up? Lots of stuff that the average curious baby can choke on or ingest or harm herself with. Guess how hard it is for a baby to figure out how your purse latch works? NOT VERY. Always place purses and backpacks up and out of reach. Remote controls: These may seem safe, but your baby can easily get these open and get the batteries out. Batteries are toxic and can pose a choking hazard so keep these out of reach. Exercise equipment: Jump ropes that ca be wrapped around necks, weights that can fall, moving parts, and more. Exercise equipment is usually a big hazard for babies so be sure to put large equipment in a room that's shut, and smaller equipment up. Garbage cans: Garbage cans aren't terrible dangers alone, but fill them up with icky stuff and they become a baby hazard deluxe. Read how to make your garbage cans safer. Toys: If you have an older child, then his toys are no where near safe for his baby sibling. Also, small children make very poor housekeepers, so don't expect your older child to pick up correctly. Make sure all older kid toys are out of reach of your baby, especially toys with magnets, which is one of the most commonly overlooked baby dangers.
