|When it comes to your baby's nursery, you might think there's too much to do and too little time! We have good news for you: Getting started on your nursery project is as easy as A, B, C...||
Once you've decided how you are going to diaper your baby (disposable or cloth; if cloth, which kind, and will you have a diaper service?), you can choose from an array of diapering accessories: changing tables and pads in astonishing variety, diaper storage containers, pails and disposal systems, and diapering supplies.
A nice place to keep your diaper changing needs (everything from diapers to covers, wipes to creams) is on a high shelf adjacent to or above the changing area. This will keep the supplies out of reach of children, but they'll be close at hand for you.
Especially if you are on a budget, ask yourself if you will actually use a changing table before making that purchase. If you are more likely to change your baby on the bed or the floor, a good changing pad may be adequate. And where space is an issue, consider double-duty furnishings: a dresser that doubles as a changing table, or a crib with a changing surface on the side.
Amilya Antonetti, a mom and the CEO of Soapworks natural cleaning products [soapworks.com], likes old-fashioned cloth diaper bags in the nursery. "I sprinkle baking soda in the bottom of the bag and throw a diaper rag sprinkled with my favorite essential oil at the bottom... The baking soda and essential oils can go right into the washer. The warm water reactivates the oils and makes the wash smell great as well." For a little extra odor control, Antonetti says, "I keep baking soda in the baby's room and sprinkle a little on top of the diapers as often as I need to."
