|When it comes to your baby's nursery, you might think there's too much to do and too little time! We have good news for you: Getting started on your nursery project is as easy as A, B, C...||
It's easy to get caught up in the idea of what a nursery should be, but this is something you can have fun with! "I am doing a vintage sports theme," says Katie, due in October. "I bought the sports theme bedding from Pottery Barn Kids because my husband is a major jock. Nothing but sports for this little baby!"
Filling your baby's room with child-friendly versions of stuff you love is a great way to decorate your nursery. "Parents should let their personalities shine through the baby's and children's rooms, just as it does in the rest of the house," says Jamie Hurd.
Take advantage of this opportunity to be a kid again. You might want to display your collection of teddy bears, or maybe you'd like to indulge your passion for airplanes with an aeronautical theme, painting clouds on the walls and hanging model airplanes from the ceiling. Think of how you can incorporate your favorite things into a fun room. "Shop outside of the usual places to find accessories and focal points," says Hurd. "For example, kite stores are good not only for inspiration, but offer some really interesting shapes and colors for kid's rooms. And the kites can be used for fun when the child is older. Party stores are another place worth perusing," she says. Need more ideas? "In our area, the gift stores at children-oriented places, such as the zoo, science centers and children's museums, often have fun and decorative elements," Hurd notes. "Sometimes stores aimed at the teen or early adult market offer wonderful accents in terms of lighting, area rugs and pillows that are safe to use in a baby's room."
