Designer clothing lines at budget retail stores

Ever look at a pair of $600 shoes plastered on the pages of a fashion mag and think, ‘If only I could have those and still afford my electricity bill…’? So have we, sister! Well, now it seems this wretched economy has done some good for us, because more and more high-end designers are taking a break from the runway to create affordable lines for average Janes like us. Here are some of the designers you can expect to see at your local budget retail stores.

Vera Wang

Vera Wang’s stylish and budget-friendly line, Simply Vera, Simply Chic can be found at Kohl’s, and is perfect if you are looking for tasteful and chic clothes on a budget. From creating some of the most beautiful wedding dresses in the world to an affordable everyday line at Kohl’s, can it get any better?

Jimmy Choo & Sonia Rykiel

H&M has had some truly amazing guest designers, from Karl Lagerfeld to the most recent Jimmy Choo, who released both shoes and clothes in November 2009 for the fall/winter collection. In spring 2010, H&M welcomedFrench designer Sonia Rykiel, whose knits and bold colors will be perfect for spring style. To find a store near you, go to www.hm.com.

The Kardashian sisters

If you are a fan of Keeping Up With the Kardashians on E!, then make sure not to miss BEBE‘s new line, which Kim, Kourtney and Khloe are lending their hands to and helping to design. The line is available online and in stores now.

Isaac Mizrahi

The QVC — otherwise known as “Mecca” to online shoppers — is now home to Isaac Mizrahi, whose line includes jewelry, clothes, accessories and home accents. You can find all of his newest designs there, but expect higher prices than with his Target line.

Norma Kamali

Designer Norma Kamali is creating designs especially for Walmart that are easy on your wallet and perfectly stylish for everyday looks. Her line is available now and she will continue to submit her jersey designs to Wal-mart.

CFDA

The Council of Fashion Designers for America have teamed up with the Clinton Bush Haiti fund to create “Fashion for Haiti” T-shirts made by Theory, which will directly help the Haiti relief. The shirts can be found at retailers across the country for $25. You can also nab one at www.clintonbushhaitifund.org or www.cfda.com.

For your Teens

If you have teen girls, Taylor Swift has a line of spring dresses under $20 at Walmart, and Lauren Conrad (former Hills star) has a running line at Kohl’s. Perfect for spring wardrobe shopping on a budget!
