5-minute skin care tips

Beautiful skin doesn’t have to take forever to achieve. And, no matter what your skin’s issues are (or your own issues for that matter), it is possible for you to get a fabulously flawless complexion in a flash — and we’ve got the steps to prove it! So, break out that stopwatch and get ready to love your skin!

Exfoliate

Kick off your morning right with a super convenient cleansing wipe or pad that also exfoliates to gently remove dead cells and leave skin feeling smooth.

Because acne prone skin has a tendency to be greasy, it’s important to use a cleanser that doesn’t contain oil or added moisturizers that can increase breakouts. Instead, start with oil-free cleansing wipes or pads that contain glycolic or salicylic acid to stop acne breakouts before they start.

For dull, aging skin, use gentle, non-foaming, sulfate-free cleansing cloths to avoid drying out the skin even more and to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

If you have rosacea, eczema, or another inflammatory skin condition, use a cleansing wipe or pad that is gentle and contains anti-inflammatory ingredients (like aloe and cucumber) and is either oil-free or hydrating, based on your skin’s tendencies.

Apply a facial mask

Next, apply a facial mask that’s formulated for your skin’s specific needs, letting it sit for no more than two minutes. (We are in a time crunch after all.)

If your skin is oily, or acne prone, make sure that your mask is made with salicylic or glycolic acid. For sensitive, acne prone skin, use masks formulated with zinc oxide, or tea tree oil, which are less harsh.

If you have dull or dry skin, use a hydrating mask that doesn’t contain drying ingredients like alcohol or sulfates and includes a ceramide to lock in moisture.

Aging skin requires a moisturizing mask that contains anti-oxidants, like vitamins C and E, along with retinol and peptides.

For skin with rosacea or eczema, use a gentle, anti-inflammatory mask that contains soothing ingredients like cucumber, chamomile, or green tea.

Remove mask

Rinse your face completely, being certain that the entire mask has been removed. (No one wants to be caught with dried facial cleanser on her face.)

Moisturize

Hydrate the skin with a moisturizer that contains an SPF of at least 30 to prevent sun damage. For a more complete look that still shows off your beautiful complexion, use a tinted moisturizer (with sunscreen) that helps to even out your skin tone and hide imperfections.

For those with dry skin, look for moisturizing products with ceramide. If you have acne prone skin, use an oil-free moisturizer in order to reduce the chances of breakouts and to avoid any unwanted shine.

To reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, try a moisturizer that contains a mix of collagen, hyaluronic acid, peptides, and retinol, which together not only reverse dehydration but also attract moisture and plump the skin.

Skin with rosacea or eczema should stick to anti-inflammatory moisturizers that are either oil-free for oily skin, or hydrating for dry skin.
