Designer spotlight: L.A.M.B.

Each day of Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week 2012, the SheKnows Beauty team is bringing you a new designer spotlight of the day… L.A.M.B. comes from style trendsetter by day, outstanding singer by night Gwen Stefani. Find out more about this edgy line.

Gwen Stefani

Love.Angel.Music.Baby

An acronym for Gwen Stefani’s first solo album name, “Love Angel Music Baby,” Stefani created L.A.M.B. as it defines her love for all things fashion and music. The line is a luxurious mix of clothing, shoes, handbags and fragrance. Stefani has always had her hand in designing and mixing and matching, especially with her stage costumes through her 20 year musical career.

We all know Stefani from her No Doubt days of singing “Don’t Speak”, “Spiderwebs,” and many other hits while wearing her signature red lipstick. We also know her fabulous sense of style.

Because of her eclectic mix of old Hollywood glamour and modern edge, L.A.M.B. embraces a unique sense of style. It’s elegant and sophisticated without being stiff or stuffy.

L.A.M.B. was first launched in 2003 and really took off when LeSportsac approached Stefani asking to do a limited-edition line of bags. The nylon L.A.M.B. collection launched in fall of 2003 and was a huge success, putting the brand on the fashion map.

Price matters

Because this line is carefully crafted and made, Stefani wanted to make sure it was affordable as well. Though no detail goes overlooked in this brand, it’s not priced at a point where it’s going to break the bank. Stefani says that L.A.M.B. is a brand she wants to wear every day. She specifically had that idea in mind when designing the luxury line.

This line has an intense mix of chic, subtle items with a few abrupt styles that are sure to be attention-getters. Ultimately, Stefani says that L.A.M.B. is something she can continue to build on and pursue while still taking care of her family.

“It’s like a seed that I planted and it’s going to grow into something amazing. I’m not always going to be running around doing cartwheels on stage for the rest of my life,” Stefani says.
