A style session with The Vampire Diaries‘ Torrey DeVitto

We catch up with one of our favorite TV stars, Torrey DeVitto, as she takes us behind the scenes on the set of The Vampire Diaries to dish on beauty, style and her 10-year Hollywood plan.

Torrey DeVitto

Having appeared on some of our most beloved and juicy TV shows like One Tree Hill, Pretty Little Liars and most recently as Dr. Meredith Fell on The Vampire Diaries, DeVitto is a true entertainment powerhouse who commands the silver screen in acting and with her striking style on and off the camera. (Especially when she’s seen hanging out with her husband and heartthrob, Paul Wesley).

Read on for what DeVitto has to say about her beauty routine, favorite products and who she is dying to work with in Hollywood.

SheKnows: What is a typical beauty day on set getting ready for The Vampire Diaries? Walk us through the hair/makeup routine as you get camera-ready.

DeVitto: First and most importantly, you have to show up with a cleaned and moisturized face. It’s a lot of makeup all day, so it’s even more important to take care of your skin and show up with a clean base. Once I am on set, both hair and makeup spend anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour each trying their best to make all of us look as awake, fresh and beautiful as possible! On days with no sleep, their job can become quite difficult!

SheKnows: How do you stay looking so refreshed and glowing when you’re off-camera? What is your morning beauty routine?

DeVitto: I am completely obsessed with Origins. My morning and nighttime regimens both consist of all Origins products. I swear by all their stuff, truly!

SheKnows: Any hair care secrets? How do you maintain your brunette locks? A stylist? Do you do it yourself?

DeVitto: I have a wonderful hair stylist actually — my little sister Maryelle DeVitto. She does my cut, and she does my color. It’s great because not only is she excellent at her job, but I also get to boss her around and not feel bad about it!

Torrey DeVitto's beauty product picks

SheKnows: What are your must-have hair care items? Favorite brands?

DeVitto: I love It’s A 10 products. I use almost their whole line. I also am completely obsessed with Unite’s 7 Seconds Leave In Conditioner.

SheKnows: What are your must-have makeup items? Favorite brands?

DeVitto: I generally don’t wear a lot of makeup, but when I know I am going to be going out for the night, I have to have my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer and my MAC Liquid Eyeliner and Liner Brush.

SheKnows: What are the five beauty/style items you always include in your handbag? Also, what brand is your everyday bag?

DeVitto: I have a little bag with all my daily stuff that I pull out and put in every different purse I use, which includes: Julie Hewett’s Rose Water Spray, Maybelline’s Baby Lips Chapstick, hand cream, eye drops and hand sanitizer.

My everyday bag changes every week, but I have been using this little vintage black backpack I got last summer a lot lately. Makes it easy to throw things in it and go.

SheKnows: Where do you like to shop? Who are your favorite designers?

DeVitto: I love to shop at vintage stores. Those are my favorite places to go to because I love finding interesting finds that I know I won’t see everywhere else. I like to go to places that aren’t outrageously priced too, like H&M.

SheKnows: Any designer you are dying to wear on the red carpet?

DeVitto: I love Marc Jacobs and Chanel. I think all their stuff is so classy. I would love to wear one of their beautiful outfits one day.

SheKnows: Now on to Hollywood… where do you see yourself in Hollywood in 10 years?

DeVitto: Goodness, who knows! Had you asked me that 10 years ago it would have been right around the time I drove out here [Hollywood] with my filled-to-the-brim Ford Explorer Sport, and I would have never hit anywhere close to where I actually am now! From that, I learned that the only way to live is to go day by day and to just remain present and not judge your own process in any way, shape or form.

SheKnows: Any actresses or actors you’re dying to work with in Hollywood?

DeVitto: Of course! My favorite female actress is Monica Bellucci. I would love to work with her one day. I would also love to work with Penelope Cruz one day, as well. And as for men go, I would love to do a project with Michael C. Hall. I think he is incredible!

SheKnows: What’s next for Meredith on The Vampire Diaries?

DeVitto: Lots of really great stuff. It’s so fun for me to see script by script where they are taking her. I have been so fortunate to not only work with great people on this project, but to get to do some really fun work!

Don’t forget to catch DeVitto on The Vampire Diaries at 8 p.m. EST on The CW Network.
