Delicious, calorie-free arm candy

Welcome SK Style Watchers! I’m personal stylist Jill Laine, and each week I’ll be bringing you a pick from my favorite trend and tips on how to wear it. I’ll sort through the fabulous, the so-so and the downright scary styles to bring you only the best! Up this week: colorblocked arm candy!

There’s nothing like a bold piece of jewelry to really make a statement with your style, but did you know it doesn’t have to be just one big piece? You can create your own custom look and fashion magic, by piling on the jewels, and there’s no better place to do that than with bracelets (and the occasional watch!)! Seeing how colorblocking is also a huge trend, I’m going to show you how to effortlessly put this yummy arm candy look together for yourself as my pick for favorite trend of the week!

So where should you start?

Blue watch

Choose your colors

Since we’re colorblocking and looking for a big pop of color, we’re going to start by picking two complementary colors — these sit across from each other on the color wheel and so they‘re very dramatic when worn together. They include: purple and yellow, blue and orange, green and red. You’ll want to alternate these two colors of watches or bracelets on both arms.

Add some texture

To really make it interesting, mix it up with a variety of bracelets, like those in leather, with rhinestones or tassels, or even braided ribbon. Keep it in the same color palette as the complementary colors that you’ve chosen from step one.

Create balance

This look is about each arm being different, and yet still complementing the other. You want about an equal amount of bracelets, say 60/40, where one arm has slightly more, but it doesn’t throw the look out of proportion. And you definitely don’t want to leave one arm bare while the other one is loaded.
