Horrible Bosses is if nothing else the perfect film for anyone who has had a horrible boss. But, the thing is Horrible Bosses is so much more than a revenge film for boss-hating audiences — it is utterly hysterical.
First and foremost, Horrible Bosses is smart and smartly cast and there is a wit to the film — injected by writers Michael Markowitz, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, as well as director Seth Gordon — that jumps off the screen.
The Horrible Bosses story follows the three men at the heart of the effort to knock off their bosses, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day and Jason Bateman, who are at their wits’ end and it’s easy to see why.
As embodied by the trio, their subordinates explode with comedic power and in many ways remind us of a new Three Stooges. Sudeikis, Day and Bateman’s chemistry is off the charts. They are so real as best friends, audiences would swear they were really lifelong friends. But, it is when the murder plot is hatched to knock off each other’s bosses that the three actors find new levels of hilarity. The actors are equally funny as ferocious in their delivery as the heat onscreen sizzles.
Then, there are the bosses. Led by Jennifer Aniston as a sex-crazed dentist, the trio of Horrible Bosses is stellar. Aniston is sex crazed, yes, but she does it in such a maniacal way, the actress leaves all traces of her “good girl” persona in the dust.
Kevin Spacey is impeccably cast and takes a page from his Swimming with Sharks boss and then amps up the horrible in Horrible Bosses. He is truly psychotic and to witness Bateman’s reaction to his boss’ whims is priceless. Colin Farrell, like Aniston, plays a role unlike anything he’s ever done before on the big screen. His bald comb-over is only the beginning of what makes this the performance of the actor’s career. He is so outrageous — your sides will hurt from laughing so much at his titanic turn as Sudeikis’ boss.

It’s R-rated comedy at its best. There are so many scenes that produce out-loud laughing it’s hard to keep track. Not wanting to ruin a single moment of hilarity, I’ve kept the scene descriptions to a zero. You must discover Horrible Bosses’ sick humor on your own. Just know that you are in for a treat.
