Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum danced his way to stardom — literally. After spending his childhood in Mississippi and his teens in Tampa, Florida, this Hollywood hottie first worked as an “exotic dancer” (read stripper), then got his boogie on in Ricky Martin’s uber-popular video for “She Bangs,” later starring in the dance flick Step Up with his now-wife, Jenna Dewan.

Far from a one-trick pony, Tatum — who also modeled for the likes of Armani and Abercrombie & Fitch — has easily moved back and forth between romantic love stories, hard-driving action flicks and comedy. Between 2008 and 2012 he released (among others) Step Up 2: The Streets, a dance battle follow-up; Stop-Loss, a drama about a controversial military policy; GI Joe: The Rise of the Cobra, an action flick based on the popular kids cartoon character; Dear John, a heart-wrenching Nicolas Sparks love story; and 21 Jump Street, a comedic takeoff on the popular ’80s TV show.

The Vow‘s Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams talk tearjerkers >>

The actor has never looked back from his early successes and has a whopping five films out in 2012 alone. The Vow, costarring Rachel McAdams, is another Nicolas Sparks love story. 21 Jump Street showed off his comedy skills with Academy Award-nominee Jonah Hill, while both GI Joe: Retaliation and Magic Mike are due out on June 29.

But everything happens in cycles, of course, and careers are no different. Magic Mike will actually revisit the very beginning of his showbiz career, back when he worked as a stripper. Co-starring with Alex Pettyfer and Matthew McConaughey, the Tatum-produced flick examines the relationship between an up-and-coming dancer and his worldly coworker.

Does this mean we’ll get to see the hunky star take it all off? We’ll have to wait until June to find out — but it’s a safe bet that Channing Tatum will be worth the wait.
