Robert Pattinson rumored to star in Hunger Games sequel

Is Robert Pattinson catching fire? The Twilight star is rumored to appear in the highly-anticipated Hunger Games sequel. Considering his age, who do you think the twenty-something could play?

What would happen if the heartthrob from The Twilight Saga entered The Hunger Games? The box office would surely implode! The latest rumors surrounding the sequel, Catching Fire, have Robert Pattinson possibly joining the cast.

According ThinkMcFlyThink, Pattinson is up for the role of fan-favorite Finnick Odair. Within the world of Panem, Finnick’s a Hunger Games legend. At the age of 14, he won the competition for his native District four. By the time he appears in Catching Fire, he’s in his mid-twenties and part of the Third Quarter Quell (a competition for former winners).

Coincidentally, 26-year-old Pattinson is the right age to tackle the character. He’s more akin to Finnick than perma-teen Edward Cullen, who’s been 17 for a century. In the books, Finnick has a friendly relationship with Katniss Everdeen who’s also a champion in her own right.

Who’s paid more: Stars of Twilight or The Hunger Games? >>

The studio told Huffpost Entertainment, “As with the first film, we won’t be confirming, denying or commenting on any casting rumors for this title. We will announce news when there is official casting news to announce.”

Judging from the hashtag #PattinsonisnotFinnick trending all over Twitter, fans aren’t happy about this. The Hunger Games Trilogy has been considered the anti-Twilight, so we can understand their reservations. But at the same time, Pattinson experienced a similar backlash after being cast as Cullen. And look how that turned out.

Would you accept Pattinson as Finnick?
