Like to sew and need a quick gift? Mary Wilkins shares some easy gifts that give from the heart. Satin pillowcases
These are super quick and easy sewing idea for a last minute Mother's Day gift. It will take about 10 minutes and even the youngest seamstress can make one of these up in no time.

The satin should be polyester satin (totally washable and throw in the dryer). The satin is smooth, and for those who love to have their hair done, this will allow you to keep the style a little longer. The satin does not ruffle or fight against the "do."

Simply measure a pillow case you have on hand. Allow for 5/8" seam allowances and a deep hem at the opening.

Cut 2 pieces of satin the size of your pillow case.
Put right sides together and stitch around three sides.
Turn hem at open end and add lace to finish it off.

You can make several up in pretty colors. Embellish to your hearts content, just make sure it is all washable.

Luxury hangars

These make a nice gift for someone who has everything. If you make them from ultra suede, suiting or a tweed, it makes a nice man's gift as well.

You will need:
2 wooden hangars
Strips of polyester quilt batt
2 pieces of taffeta or satin
1 yard lace with one straight edge.

Directions:
Wrap your wooden hangars with batting, making it nice and cushy.

Lay your hangar on wrong side of fabric, trace around leaving 3/4" seam allowance. Go round entire wooden part.

Cut two hangar shapes for each hangar. Place right sides together and stitch along top and side edges. Leave 1" opening for hook.

Press bottom edge under 1/4". Sew lace along bottom edge going around entire front and back. Place fabric over hook and tack lace together along straight edge. Tie bow around the base of the hook and hand sew to keep in place.

NOTE: You can sew a shank button about 3" in from each end to keep straps from falling off. Better yet, large ribbon roses. PregnancyAndBaby.com
