Why We’ll All Be Sipping Coconut-Flavored Coffee This Spring

It’s spring, which means one thing: Iced coffee season is finally here (unless you’re a New Englander like me, which means you drink iced coffee even when it’s 15 degrees and snowing outside). This year, coffee chains are really stepping up their game. The latest trend: Ushering in warm weather with a flavor that will make you think of sunbathing in the tropics — coconut.

From subtle toasted coconut coffee to an all-out take on the coconut cream pie, there’s definitely a caffeinated drink here to keep you excited for the sunny days ahead. It’s enough to leave you thinking, “pumpkin spice who?” (until August, anyway).

1. Starbucks Toasted Coconut Cold Brew

Starbucks‘ new Toasted Coconut Cold Brew features cold brew coffee, a toasted coconut syrup and a float of coconut milk.

2. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Coconut Caramel Latte and Ice Blended drinks

TCBTL (as it shall now be known, because holy cow that name is long) just rolled out a new coconut caramel flavor for spring. Available as an iced or hot latte or frozen blended drink, each one features the flavors of coconut, caramel and espresso, and are topped with sea salt toffee.

3. Dunkin’ Donuts Coconut Crème Pie coffee

Fancy even more coconut coffee in your life? Dunkin’s got your covered with their spring rollout. They launched a new Coconut Crème Pie flavored coffee, a combo of coconut and vanilla flavors that can be swirled into your coffee, latte or macchiato, hot or iced.

They say three’s a crowd, but I’m happy to be surrounded by so many coconut coffee options as warm weather starts to roll in. Now, if only the sun would cooperate so I don’t have to imagine quite so hard that I’m sitting somewhere warm when I sip my next tropical drink…
