If your master bathroom is starting to look a little tired and needs a facelift, follow these six easy steps to give your bathroom an upgrade. These are easy, do-it-yourself projects that you can probably tackle in a weekend!
Step 1: Clean it up
Start by cleaning your bathroom top to bottom. Then, remove everything from the walls including mirrors, shower curtains and hardware. Remove any faucets you plan to replace, too.
Step 2: Get ready to paint
A new coat of paint is an easy, inexpensive way to change the look of your bathroom. Some of the most popular colors for home design this spring are champagne pink, lilac gray, bright colors (aqua, sunshine yellow etc.) and earthy, warm tones.

Step 3: Replace the mirror
Replace the mirror you took down with a framed mirror — like this one from Home Depot or one of these from Pier 1. If you have a double sink counter, try two mirrors. It will save you money, and you will have better luck finding two medium-sized mirrors than one large one. (This is why you took them down before you painted!)
Step 4: Replace cabinet hardware
By hardware, we mean the knobs and pulls on your vanity — even your doorknobs. This can be easy and inexpensive, or difficult and pricey.
To do this on a budget, choose handles from your hardware store or from a discount online retailer like MyKnobs.com or Knobs4Less.com (yeah, we know). For a vintage look, pick up some knobs and pulls at antique stores.
The most important thing is to make sure that you are exchanging like for like: If your drawers currently have a single-hole knob or pull, you should use the same style. If the pull has two screw holes, measure the distance between the two holes and then measure the distance between the two prongs on the new hardware to ensure that the new piece will line up exactly with the old.

Step 5: Change light fixtures
Again, the easiest way to do this is to choose fixtures that will fit in the existing holes created by the fixtures you are removing. Adding a dimmer switch is another easy way to create new mood lighting in your bathroom.
Step 6: Add accessories
Finish decorating by re-accessorizing your bathroom. Choose towels, shower curtains, candles and candleholders that go with your color scheme. If you painted your bathroom a lighter color, choose accessories that are a darker shade. Avoid combining too many colors — you don’t want your new sanctuary to look like a box of crayons.
