Bill and Guilianna Ranci

Balancing a rising career, successful busines ventures and his celebrity status, Bill Rancic shares his thoughts on preparing for a long-awaited arrival, travel and what matters most…

SheKnows: Are you and Giuliana almost ready for the baby to arrive?

Bill: We are ready. The due date is less than a month away, and we could not be more excited. Our surrogate just had an ultrasound before this interview and since I wasn’t able to be there I joined by speakerphone. We’ve been involved every step of the way; it’s been great.

SheKnows: Your career keeps you so busy, do you think you will be able to scale back a bit after the baby is born?

Bill: I am planning to scale back. Giuliana and I both are. We are spending the first two months in Chicago, close to family and just shutting the world down for a bit to enjoy our new little guy. We have several events for Breast Cancer Awareness month, but we plan to take the little guy with us.

SheKnows: You and Giuliana both travel so much for work, any plans for a relaxing babymoon in the works?

Bill: We are heading to Colorado soon to be on standby for the baby to arrive, so it will be a bit of an escape from our daily lives. When he decides to make his arrival will determine how long or how short our babymoon is.

SheKnows: Do you plan to share your love for traveling with the new baby or do you think this change in your lifestyle might turn the two of you into homebodies?

Bill: I think we will travel a little less but when we do travel we will take the baby with us. We plan to immerse him in our lifestyle. We’re all set with a Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Card so look forward to enjoying all of its benefits. I partnered with Citi Hilton HHonors because their new card is such a smart choice for consumers. I like what they are doing, it makes sense and can’t be passed up if you like to travel.

SheKnows: You have always been public with your struggles through infertility and now your decision to choose surrogacy, why was it important to you to share this part of your lives?

Bill: From the inception of our decision to do the show we wanted to use it for good not evil. I did some research and found that we were not alone in our infertility struggles. It affects somewhere around 25 percent of couples. We just wanted to document our journey and had no idea that we would experience so many detours along the way.

SheKnows: So have you decided who will be doing the late-night feedings? How about the majority of the diaper changing?

Bill: I’ve learned, after so many years with Giuliana, that I can negotiate all I want, but I’ll still get my fair share of the work.

SheKnows: Have you decided on a name yet or are you still debating?

Bill: We have some in mind, but I think it’s going to be a game day decision. We want to see what fits him.

SheKnows: Is your house full of baby gear yet? Is the nursery all set?

Bill: Well we are still in the process of building. The house should be ready in a week or so, so we actually have all of the nursery gear but even the crib is still in storage, waiting for the new house.

SheKnows: Will you have family or help coming in when the baby arrives or do you and Giuliana plan to try it on your own to start?

Bill: We will actually be close to family, my mom and sister and Giuliana’s mom and dad will all be close so we will have them all for support. They couldn’t be more excited. We just can’t wait for this little guy to arrive. It’s been a long road, and we are going to soak up every minute.
