Top 4 tips for summer dating success

If you’re getting tired of going on date after date but never meeting anyone you connect with, it’s time to make a change. Say goodbye to dating boredom this summer with some expert tips and tricks to boost your dating life and make it much easier to find Mr. Right.

Woman on a date

We asked dating coach Suzanna Mathews (aka the Date Maven) about how to maximize your dating potential and increase the odds of meeting someone great.

Make dating a priority

While it would be great to snap your fingers and have the perfect guy fall from the sky, that isn’t likely to happen any time soon. So what’s a girl to do? Get out there and meet people. “Mr. Wonderful is not going to show up at your door delivering a pizza,” Mathews says. “Make the decision to make this summer the one in which you will enjoy dating, date a lot, date well and find the one who gets promoted from date to mate!”

Be goal oriented

Set at least three dating goals and a make a plan for how you will achieve them. Mathews advises, “It could be to create one or two new online profiles, it could be to set aside some funds for an image makeover or take up a new hobby where quality eligible men can be found.” The point is to be more strategic rather than just dating whoever comes along in hopes of one of them being right for you.

Enlist support

You wouldn’t hesitate to pair up with a professional mentor to help you navigate your career or a friend to help you along in your diet and exercise program, so why not extend that mentality to dating, Mathews suggests. “If you’re serious about finding a mate, why wouldn’t you choose a coach or mentor who will point you in the right direction? We all need a little encouragement, wisdom and guidance as we work toward our goals.”

Work on yourself

Self-care and self-development need to be factored into your dating strategy, says Mathews. A lot of women have a long list of “must-haves” when it comes to the hunt for the perfect match, but it’s also important to be conscious of the kind of catch you are. “Cultivate yourself so that you will be an attractive, interesting, fully evolved human being — the kind of person who naturally attracts people toward them.”
