A few weeks ago, another round of drop-side cribs were recalled. This time, over 40,000 cribs, including certain models manufactured by Ethan Allen, Angel Line and Victory Land Heritage Collection, were part of the recall. According to the Yahoo article, 32 infants and toddlers have died because of drop-side cribs in the last ten years and the cribs are suspected to be the cause of another 14 deaths. Nine million drop-side cribs have been recalled in the last five years. Yes, million. I hope that the above information deters your from buying a drop-side crib. While one may be convenient, no convenience is worth the ultimate cost: Your baby's life. So, with that out of the way, let's take a look at a few cribs that are stylish, functional and, most importantly, safe!

Sorelle Vista 4-in-1 Convertible Wood Baby Crib

  • Color: Espresso
  • Price: $530
I am a big fan of convertible cribs. In fact, both cribs that we bought for our kids were 3-in-1 convertibles. Of course, my recent discovery of some fabulously cute toddler furniture required us to be creative and use the kids' (expensive, life-long) furniture elsewhere in our house, but because good, quality convertible cribs really do turn into beautiful full sized beds, we were able to use one set in a guest room and find a place for the second. (Hint: if the has options for-purchase bed rails, but them NOW! We did with both sets and were so glad, as one has been discontinued.)

Baby Cache Oxford Lifetime Crib

  • Color: Cherry
  • Price $499
Another convertible crib, but I'm a sucker for cherry and this one vaguely resembles my daughter's crib. Now that it's no longer a crib (seriously, ladies, she was in a toddler bed at 22-ish months...sad, right?), I'm nostalgic. Also, click the link for additional pictures of the conversion options.

Pottery Barn Larkin Fixed Gate Sleigh Crib

  • Color: Rustic Sun Valley Espresso
  • Price: $999
I love Pottery Barn cribs. There. I said it! I think they're very pricey, but very beautiful. If you have a generous budget for your nursery furniture, this is a great place to spend it!

Natart Loft Convertible Crib

  • Color: Mocha
  • Price: $689.00
This crib is extremely modern, which makes it perfect for some of the fun, modern nursery sets available, functional, and works well for either a boy or a girl. Obviously it's a convertible crib, and as you know, I think convertible cribs are great investment pieces.

DaVinci Jenny Lind 3-in-1 Stationary Crib

  • Color:
  • Price: $199.99
A standard name in nursery furniture, Jenny Lind recently re-engineered its line of cribs "for safety and convenience." This model converts to a day bed and toddler bed. If you're looking for a smaller crib that doesn't overpower a room and that is budget-conscious, this could be it!
