10 Times moms were insanely grateful for bleach

Warning: What you are about to see is not for the weak of stomach. Then again, if you’re a mom, you’ve probably seen it all. Feast your eyes on our top 10 bleach-worthy moments.

When your child becomes
a Picasso of poop

Poo smearing. It’s a phase some moms encounter and some moms don’t. Of course it was Friday the 13th when this mom’s son turned naptime into turd-smearing hour. Some kids might just go for the walls, but not little guy. His palette spanned his bed, dresser, mirror and floors. Lesser mothers might panic, but this level-headed mama came up with a plan and even shared a step-by-step cleanup plan on her blog, Taters and Tomaters. Rest assured, every square inch of that room got a nice spray of bleach water.

2

When your son filches the plunger and toilet brush

If you’re a germaphobe, this image will probably haunt you for days. Yes, that sweet little boy grabbed the plunger and toilet brush from the guest bathroom, and yes, his baby sister is following right behind. We’re sorry to say she actually got her mouth on the plunger before Mom came to the rescue. We warned you this wasn’t going to be pretty.

3

When your kids’ moldy bath toys give them a rash

Those colorful plastic bath toys look so innocent, it’s hard to imagine the slimy black mold that lies within. Even when Heather of We Love Being Moms faithfully squeezed out these little critters every night after the bath, she still wasn’t able to stop the mold growth. When her kids started breaking out in a rash after bath time, she used vinegar and bleach to sanitize the toys. She also sealed up those little holes with glue to prevent more mold growth. Brilliant.

Have you ever taken a good look inside your washing machine? Unfortunately there are some unseen areas that harbor serious filth. Jennifer, mom of a chocolate-brown rescue kitty named Coco, was kind enough to share her disgustingly inspiring photos and instructions on how to clean your washing machine tonight.

6

When the toilet becomes the toy-let

When the cat’s away, the mouse will play. Or in this case, when the mom is folding laundry, the 11-month old will gleefully throw toys into the open potty. Of course it had to be a teething toy that got tossed in the toilet. Talk about a Clorox moment.

7

When you find a moldy water bottle that’s been in the car for weeks

When Tidy Mom‘s Cheryl got her favorite bottle back from her daughter in this condition, she was tempted to toss it in the trash. Who wouldn’t be? Instead, she soaked it in hot water and bleach for a few hours. Thankfully that did the trick and all the mold was gone.

Cooking a 21-pound turkey for Thanksgiving is no small task — especially when you have a deep fear of poisoning your family with Salmonella like Erin from Mommy on the Spot did. Fortunately, this mom conquered her fear (which included a whole lot of bird handling and “pink juices flowing on the counter”) with determination and plenty of bleach.

Jessica of This Mom’s Business busted the black mold right out of her shower grout lines with a Clorox bleach pen. She applied bleach gel with the pen, let it sit all day, then rinsed it off before bathing the kids that night. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
