1A fulfilling career

Think back to your previous job. Were you happy? If you have the luxury of changing jobs or waiting until you find something you enjoy, take some time to land a job you find fulfilling. If you’re happy, your kids are bound to be as well.

2Family-friendly

When reentering the workforce after having a baby, if your present job doesn’t offer it, look for a place that provides a child-friendly work place. Many companies offer parents things such as on-site child care and flexible hours, which will go a long way in maintaining the delicate balance between your home and work life.

3Take time out for your family

Your day is hectic, but if you make an effort to sit down with your kids and husband every day, you’ll maintain a better sense of order within your family. Plan family dinner every night, breakfast every morning or some other set ritual. This will give you a chance to focus on your family and find out what’s going on with them and vice versa.

4Don’t bring work home with you

Once you clock out, find some time for yourself and leave your work at the office. When you come home you’ll want to decompress and focus on your family without the stress of work hanging over you. Don’t worry, your work will still be waiting for you when you go in the next day.

5Get your kids involved

Bring your kids to work if you can and show them what you do. This will help them understand why you are away from home and give them a newfound respect for you. By showing them you have your own successful life separate from them, you will be opening your kids up to new experiences, while making yourself a strong role model for them.

There are many ways to have a successful family and work life, the most important of which is you remaining happy and healthy.
