5 Luxurious family vacation splurges

Luxury family vacations deliver lifelong memories. Splurge on these five unforgettable family vacation destinations.

Family on Carribean vacation

Creating lifelong memories is a big part of traveling, and when a family splurges on the perfect getaway, they hope to find a destination that offers something for everyone. The world is full of tempting options, and that luxury vacation should be above and beyond in quality, accommodations and experience.

Many of the world’s poshest resorts are catering to families with special activities for the younger set. At the 5-star Broadmoor Hotel and Resort in Colorado Springs, the “Bee Bunch” has a menu of activities for kids and teens ranging from golf and tennis lessons to supervised visits to the zoo and canyon hikes. Director of communications Allison Scott says the activities have been “extremely popular for families visiting the resort with children.” The Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North is happy to help out parents traveling with children by offering plenty of amenities. According to Jackie Fazendin, public relations and sales assistant for the resort, they offer “age-specific amenities such as toiletries — baby powder, baby oil and diapers — as well as cribs, strollers, high chairs, bottles, bottle warmers, playpens, child-sized bathrobes and even soft protective faucet covers for bathtime.” Fazendin also says the resort has a full-day program for children ages 5-12 years old. Her advice? “Consider what amenities are available for children and if there is an additional fee for them.”

montego bay

There are countless intriguing possibilities for luxurious family vacations throughout the Caribbean, but Round Hill Hotel and Villas Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica is a legendary playground of the rich and famous. Choose from pricey villas, which include private breakfasts cooked just for you, or less-costly rooms, some available with meal plans. Prices are normally lower in the off season, which runs May through October, so this luxury destination could work for a truly special summer family vacation. There are loads of activities for kids at the resort’s Pineapple Kid’s Club.

2

mustique island

85 private residences are available to rent on the beautiful island of Mustique. This 1,400 acre island is a popular getaway spot for celebrities, and it’s no wonder why — each available villa can be custom-staffed at the renter’s request: from butlers and creative cooks to nannies. Choose a villa with a designer swimming pool, too. It’s top-of-the-line, both in accomodations and price.

kauai

Many luxury resorts in Hawaii offer children’s programs for their guests. On the garden island of Kauai, Pure Kauai offers an ultimate family vacation that also carves out alone time for the adults. Families stay in villas — beautifully furnished, and with family-friendly full kitchens and multiple bathrooms. The resort will supply everything from high chairs to stocking the villa with board games for nights in. Meals are prepared by personal chefs who will even cook on site. Private and group activities are available, ranging from cooking classes and mountain tubing to boogie boarding. Explore a tide pool with a guide or go snorkeling in the crystal clear water. The resort offers childcare to allow adults free time to indulge in a private yoga class, romantic dinner for two or an in-room massage.

London

The elegant Athenaeum Hotel & Apartments in London is ideally situated in a prime Piccadilly location — perfect for sightseeing and shopping before returning for afternoon tea with fresh scones and clotted cream! Every guest gets the royal treatment, and families have a private entrance on a small side street. The hotel’s famous whisky lounge offers 250 single malts and purely authentic English atmosphere.

5Orlando

Looking for something on this side of the pond? Concierge at Disney World could be ideal. Families can get the concierge level of service at a beautiful Disney hotel — a private floor or wing of the hotel with keyed entrance. A staff member is available to assist with all planning, so priority restaurant seating and event tickets are asked for and done. Continental breakfast and snacks throughout the day are also provided. And what child wouldn’t be thrilled with a Disney World vacation?
