A Scheduled C-Section Turned Into A Surprise
After a long and grueling pregnancy, I was so ready for it to be over. Seventeen weeks of bed rest just wasn't my cup of tea. I started taking some herbs that I had read up on, not really thinking that they would work, but if they did great!
Well at 36 weeks exactly Matthew Kendal-William Beard was born, weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and measuring 19 inches long. I had contractions all day on Wednesday, May 31, but I didn't really think anything of it because they didn't really hurt at all. About 3:00 P.M. I called the doctors office and talked to the nurse, and she said don't worry about it, if they aren't really regular, then you are fine. Well about 5:00 p.m., they quit all together, so I just let it go. About two hours later they came back, and some were really uncomfortable.
Around 9:00 p.m. I went to the bathroom twice within 10 minutes. I thought my water had broke, but it wasn't a gush, just a trickle every now and again. I let it go until midnight, when I got up and went to the bathroom. I started to get back into bed, and I had something running down my leg. I called my mom and told her I thought my water had broke. I had a doctor's appointment scheduled for later that day, so we thought I would be okay.
I didn't want to call the doctor at home and sound like a paranoid pregnant lady--after all this was my second child. So I decided to call the hospital, and see what they had to say. They told me to go ahead and come in so they could check me out.
We got there between 2-2:30 a.m. Thursday morning, and sure enough my water had broke. They called the doctor in, and prepped me for my c-section. Within an hour and a half of my hospital arrival, my new little babe was born! I was supposed to have a scheduled C-section on the 22nd of June, but he just couldn't wait that long -- or maybe it was me who couldn't.
