I'm not a big drinker. I have maybe a few beers a year. Of course I don't eat meat either, but when I was pregnant I wanted both meat and alcohol (healthy cravings huh!). Alcohol during pregnancy is never a healthy choice. However, on July 4th, everyone's going to be sipping ice cold beers and other tempting beverages. So what's a pregnant lady to do? Why whip up some refreshing and non-alcoholic cocktails of course. Then you can join the party in true 4th of July style.

If all you want is some fizz and bite you can try a nice strong ginger ale brew or club soda with tons of lemon and lime. Both are refreshing. You can also mix up a fancier drink like this one offered by Mothers Against Drunk Driving MADD:

Fuzzy Noel

3/4 cup peach sorbet 1/3 cup orange juice 1 cup sparkling water 3/8 teaspoon almond extract crushed ice
  • Blend sorbet, juice and extract until smooth.
  • Stir in sparkling water.
  • Pour over crushed ice and serve.
