An apple a day really does keep the doctor away -- from your unborn baby! apple_2-250×187.jpgA new study discussed at Women Pregnancy, reports that researchers followed the dietary intake of women from the Netherlands and Scotland and then later examined the effects of the maternal diet on airway development in more than 1,200 of their children five years later. The results? Mamas who munch on apples (at least one a day) during pregnancy may be protecting their unborn baby from developing asthma later in life. Asthma is a chronic disease that can cause all kinds of issues for a child such as wheezing, coughing, tightness in the chest, shortness of breath and more. There’s no cure for asthma (yet) and while some children grow out of it (like yours truly) others will have asthma their whole life. The researchers think that apples may be beneficial, "Possibly because of phytochemical content, such as flavonoids." So add a delicious apple to your daily diet, for an easy way to support better health for your baby later on.
