I'm a vegetarian and the funny thing is when i was pregnant with my son I wanted meat. Tons of meat. 780517_food_1.jpgDid I eat the meat? Nope; but my midwife said it was likely my body telling me I needed more protein so I did up my protein intake. And ate quite a lot of soy burgers. If you're a vegetarian you can continue to stick to your diet even while you're pregnant. Lots of women are vegetarians and have perfectly healthy babies. You still need to eat an extra 200 to 300 calories a day depending on your care providers suggestions but no meat is a perfectly fine way to go. Make sure that you're getting plenty of healthy protein from smart choices like beans and peanut butter. salad_n-200×149.jpgOne last old wives tale note of interest -- some say that if you crave meat during pregnancy you're having a boy. Craving veggies and fruits then it's a girl. Is there any truth to this? Well, look at me. Although I'm not actual scientific evidence the tales were true in my case. What about you? Do you think cravings suggest your baby's gender?
