My son Cedar was the first born baby for his generation on my side of the family and my partner's side of the family. To say this was a baby celebrated and spoiled would be a terrific understatement. I knew that Cedar would get plenty of gifts on his first Christmas and was stressing about how to keep it all straight. Instead of trying to write down gifts during the unwrapping and then later sending thank-you cards I decided to not thank people individually but to send a photo of Cedar with all his presents to everyone. This way I thought; people would see their gift and know we loved it and it would simple things up for me. On Christmas evening I moved all of Cedar's gifts into his room and snapped a photo of him in the middle of them. I sent the photos in cards out to people. The were a big hit -- and I'm not even that good a photo taker. Here's that first Christmas photo:

One easy way to say thanks without spending all your holiday break writing completely personalized thank you notes -- people would rather have a photo of your cutie anyway.
