As the new year approaches some of you may be looking into childcare solutions. Here are some basic daycare safety checks you need to know. Cleanliness: obviously a daycare should be messy with fun. Toys on the floor, paint on the tables, and splled milk is one thing. Dirt, dust, and mold is another. Check less obvious spots to see how clean they keep it like under tables, windowsills, and under bathroom sinks. Childproofing: This is a no compromise situation. The daycare you choose for your child must be properly set up for child safety. If it's not go elsewhere. Identification policy in place: Each daycare should have a proper and rigorous check in and check out procedure. If they fail to ask you who can and can't pick up your child it's a bad sign. IDs should be checked (even of parents) until all staff know parents and other pick-up adults by sight and name. Attentive staff: Your child is only as safe as the people in charge make it. Be sure you spend plenty of time at the daycare before signing your child on to see that staff are interested, attentive, and that they split their time between children equally (within reason).
