A little caffeine is ok during pregnancy but not much. Caffeine is a stimulant, and since what goes in you, goes in your baby, you might get one jumpy baby with too much caffeine. turkish_coffee.jpgMany studies have been done surrounding caffeine and pregnancy, and truthfully, most have not found that caffeine harms a growing baby at all. However, studies have also not found that caffeine IS safe during pregnancy. Since it is a stimulant, it's better to only drink, maybe two cups worth, of caffeinated beverages a day while you're pregnant. I drank decaf coffee my whole pregnancy, and it sucked. Still, I felt better knowing that my baby was not going to be affected by caffeine. Don't forget, there's also caffeine in sodas, tea, chocolate, and some medications. If you're worried about how much caffeine to drink, talk with your care provider.
