The other day I posted about chocolate babies, a cool clothing and accessory line for the littles. What's odd is that I said, and I quote:
"I know you’re hoping that I have a new study that says chocolate is super healthy during pregnancy. Sorry, but no. We all wish that was true."
chocolate_brownieWell, guess what someone here at SheKnows sent me today? Take a wild guess.... An article from the Washington Post titled, "Pregnant? Eat Chocolate!" no joke. How nutty is that? In any case, the news is good. Elizabeth Triche of Yale University and her colleagues recently discovered that pregnant women who ate more chocolate (about one candy bar a day) during their first and second trimester were 70% less likely to develop preeclampsia than women who reported eating less chocolate. Dark chocolate is the best chocolate to eat during pregnancy, the study reports, and also just because it may be healthy the researchers remind women, everything in moderation. Even if chocolate is good for you, extra pounds are still a pregnancy health problem. The study can be found in this month's issue of the journal Epidemiology.
