Recently the Telegraph.co.uk, posted an article with a mama's defense about breastfeeding her now three and five-year-old children. This mama says while her friends think nothing of this, strangers of course get pretty up in arms about it. Her reasoning is hat breastfeeding longer provides more immunity, and that children should be breastfed until they lose their milk teeth (first teeth). What do you think? Personally, I don't think I'd breastfeed that long, because I'm a little selfish about it. I liked when I got my breasts back after I was done breastfeeding Cedar. He actually weaned himself around one year of age, (which I thought was totally odd at the time). I figured I'd breastfeed him until well after a year, but he had other ideas. I would have kept feeding him, but most likely would have weaned by two, because I'm betting I'd have wanted more me time. However, that's simply a hypothesis - I can't really know, since I wasn't there. There are just a lot of demands on mama time, and breastfeeding, is one of those time demands. Do I think extended breastfeeding is ok. Yeah. America is one of the only places in the world where women breastfeed s short term, we're the exception, not the rule. Also, I have plenty of friends who breastfed for super long amounts of time. Believe me, Cedar weaning at one year, made me the odd one out in my circle, not the other way around. So, how long do you plan to breastfeed, or how long did you breastfeed? Do you think it's fine to breastfeed until a little one is five? Read the whole story.
