I'm thinking some nice summer minded name sound good - not that we'll get that lucky. Or maybe we will - let's see... Baby girl: Pallas; from the Greek, pallas, 'goddess', in Greek mythology, Athena, goddess of wisdom, industry, and the arts. Baby boy: Shearman; from the Old English, sceran, 'to cut', thus 'cloth cutter.' An old occupational name. Related to Sherman. Well, interesting names this week. My issue with Shearman, is that it would always remind me of The Backyardigans - don't get me wrong, I love the Backyardigans, as far as kid shows go, it's not annoying, and even entertains me, and has great music for kids. However, they have this song about a worm called, "Hey Sherman" that my son constantly sings. So I always get it in my head, thus I might associate a Shearman child with a worm (not cool). Pallas is sort of odd, no? I love the meaning - who doesn't have a little goddess? But it's not the most elegant of names lyrically; it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. What do you think?
