If you're a vegetarian or simply on a quest to eat less meat, you may find yourself running short on protein during your pregnancy. You really need your protein though- it helps to build a super strong baby body and mind. Here are some ideas about how to get extra protein.

Use cubed tofu soaked in hot sauce or salsa in burritos or tacos and plain cubed tofu in veggie stir-fry. Eat soy yogurt. Try some fake meat - there are plenty of pretend meats on the market. My favorite are Morning Star products, but there are plenty others as well, and all of them pack in some protein. Eat soy beans out of the shell for a snack. Add cooked beans (of your choice) to your diet. You can use beans in Mexican dishes, chili, soups, stews, and more. Eat eggs or cottage cheese for breakfast a few times a week.
