I'm pretty sure I missed last week's names due to my moving houses (forgetful and busy). Let's see what comes up this week. Baby girl name: Star; from the Old English, steora, 'star'. In astrology a heavenly body believed to influence a person's character. Baby boy name: Hakon; from the Old Norse, hag, 'useful'. When I was a kid I named one of my Barbie dolls Star, mainly because of the movie Lost Boys. Yikes right? I used to LOVE this name, but only in the way a kid adores something. I highly doubt I'd name a child this now, although I do still think it's pretty. I sort of like the unique quality of Hakno, it's obviously a name you rarely hear. But I'm not so sure the meaning is very nice. "useful" is cool, but "hag" not so much. I know it doesn't mean the same hag I'm thinking of, but geez. What names did you like when you were little? Besides Star, I also was obsessed with the names Nina, Stephanie (Grease 2 - I KNOW!) and Julia. I never thought about boy names much. See more cool baby names.
