Of course you know that a proper pregnancy diet is best for both you and your baby-to-be, but it's easy to get caught up in some simple pregnancy diet mistakes. Here are three common ones to avoid. Eating for two: Eating for two is not only unnecessary, but incorrect. Many women hear the whole, "Eat for two" and think they need to eat for two fully grown individuals. In fact though, you should be eating for one main person (yourself) and a very tiny extra person (your baby). Plan a perfectly sized diet. Obsessing over weight gain: Obsessing over anything isn't too healthy. That said, I'd be lying if I said women don't obsess over weight during pregnancy - most women I know (self included) did this. That said, obsessing can lead you to eat too few calories and build stress. It's best to know ahead of time that weight gain is just part of a healthy pregnancy. Talk to your midwife or doctor about how much weight you should gain during pregnancy and then stick to a healthy meal plan and you'll be a-okay. Not practicing food safety: Pregnant women are more prone to food-born illness than the general population. This puts you and your baby at risk. Make sure you practice proper food safety techniques during pregnancy. What sort of diet problems have you run into during pregnancy?
