Kid O Products has recalled 1,500 baby rattles. Keep reading for more info and to find whether your baby's rattle is part of the recall.
Kid O products LLC has issued a voluntary recall of 1,500 baby rattles. The rattles were sold at various specialty children's stores between November 2010 and December 2010. The retail price was approximately $12. The recall notice
gives the following detailed description of the rattles: "This recall involves the Prisma and Duo style wooden baby rattles with multi-colored beads. The Prisma rattle is shaped as a bell with a loop handle and has style number 10331. The rattle measures about 3 ¾- inches long. “Prisma” and the style number can be found on the packaging. The Duo rattle is two interlocked rings with red and blue bead accents. “Duo” and style number 10333 is printed on the packaging."
Reason for recall
Kid O Products voluntarily issued the recall in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) because the beads can come off of the rattles when they are pulled or twisted "forcefully." This would pose a choking hazard to babies. The CPSC received no reports of injuries or incidents.
What should you do?
The CPSC advises consumers to immediately take the rattles away from their babies. You can either return the rattle to the retailer where you purchased it or contact Kid O for information on how to mail the rattle back to the company and receive a refund.
