What do you do with all of the baby gear that you have -- baby swing, co-sleeper, Bumbo seat...you get the idea.. after you no longer need it? We adopted my daughter just over a year after we adopted my son, so we hung onto a few baby items. However, I'll admit that there were a handful that were big (exersaucer, anyone?), cumbersome and difficult to store and even keeping those items between two babies that were closely spaced was unrealistic. Enter baby and kids resale stores or consignment stores. Kids resale stores or consignment stores are a lifesaver if you don't have a lot of space to store baby items for friends who may want then down the road or for (potential) future babies that you might have. Once I figured out how to purchase baby gear -- not at the full price baby stores, bur rather at resale stores or even Craig's List -- I realized that by selling it back to the store when we were finished, we weren't losing that much money. In fact, to me, it was sort of like we were "renting" baby items for a ridiculously low rate! After my daughter, who was our second, outgrew all of our baby gear, I sold everything to a baby resale store, even though we weren't sure we were done growing our family. We're still not sure whether we want another baby (or two)! But we did know we wanted a small break and we just don't have the storage space for high chairs, exersaucers or bouncy seats. If you find yourself with a house full of baby gear that you don't need for the time being and nowhere to keep it, I highly recommend a kids and baby consignment or resale store. In my opinion, you can make almost as much money as you would with a garage sale and you can avoid the hassle of selling on Craig's List. >>Tip: If you're looking to buy baby gear from a consignment or resale store, check out Buying used baby gear: What you need to know.
