Recalled item

Sassy Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of 37,000 Refreshing Rings Infant Teethers/Rattles. The teethers were sold at mass merchandise and specialty stores between January 2009 and January 2011. The retail price was approximately $5. The recall notice gives the following detailed description of the teethers: "The product has a red, water-filled ring on one end and a black and white polka dot ball on the other end. The two ends of the rattles/teethers are connected by a black and white, flexible plastic rod with three floating rings. Style number 80026 is printed on the packaging"

Reason for recall

Sassy Inc. voluntarily issued the recall because when children chew on the teether, small pieces of the plastic ball can detach and pose a choking hazard. The CPSC received one report of pieces detaching, but no injuries.

What should you do?

The CPSC advises consumers to immediately take the teether away from their babies. You may contact Sassy so that you can return the defective teether and receive a new one.
