Dorel Juvenile Group (DJG) has issued a voluntary recall of certain Cosco, Maxi-Cosi and Safety 1st car seats/child restraint systems.

Dorel Juvenile Group (DJG), in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) , has issued a voluntary recall of certain Cosco, Maxi-Cosi and Safety 1st car seats/child restraint systems. The car seats were manufactured between May 1, 2008 and April 30, 2009. Recalled models include the following: Convertible Child Restraints

Reason for recall

Dorel voluntarily issued the recall because "[t]here is a potential for the harness adjustment strap to loosen during use. If this were to occur, the harness may be loose around the child, possibly increasing the risk of injury in a crash."

What should you do?

If you registered your car seat, Dorel will contact you to provide you with info on how to obtain a repair kit. The company states that you can continue to use the car seats until the repair kit arrives -- just be sure to adjust the harness strap snugly as per the instructions. If you have not registered your car seat, visit the Dorel website.
