Talk about a big baby. A Texas woman gave birth via c-section to a 16 pound, one ounce baby boy over the weekend. JaMichael Brown was a whopping two feet long. Mom Janet Johnson was prepared for a big baby...but wow! Can you really prepare to give birth to a baby that is over twice the weight of the average newborn?! "When they pulled the baby out, they could tell that he was huge," Janet told a local news station. "And then they weighed him." Johnson had gestational diabetes, a condition that likely caused her baby to grow so large. "It's a beautiful baby, but for health reasons we'd rather not see a baby this large," said Mary Beth Smith, a nurse who helped with JaMiachel's delivery. "They can have a little harder time maintaining their blood sugar." JaMichael is in the neonatal intensive care unit because he needs breathing and feeding assistance. Hopefully he'll be heading home soon! Gestational diabetes is a condition that can develop during pregnancy. It causes high blood sugars.
