Your question
Is it ok for a pregnant woman to do a low impact step aerobic class? - Yolanda, Clinton MS

The expert answers
Yolanda,

Absolutely, as long as you get clearance from your caregiver and as long as you notify the instructor that you're pregnant. Low impact aerobics is a great way to stay in shape all the way through your pregnancy. The low impact movements won't overstress loosened joints as your pregnancy progresses.

Just make sure that the pace of the class isn't too fast and that there aren't any quick directional changes in the choreography. Both of those factors can increase your risk of injury. Other than that, have fun and keep on moving!
