There are some new findings out that could proove to be very useful for women trying to have a successful pregnancy after in vitro fertilization (IVF). New research published on Human Reproduction notes that a team has identified genetic markers which may allow for a better selection of eggs - better eggs that will lead to a more successful pregnancy after IVF. Another perk is that this method may be able to reduce the rate of multiple births after IVF. Just 40 women participated in the study, so I'm guessing they'll be doing ongoing research. However, they were able to identify the "better" eggs (i.e. the eggs that resulted in a more successful pregnancy) by comparing follicular cells that surround the eggs. Ultimately what they found is that the best eggs were surrounded by follicular cells that had 5 genes expressed more so than in the cells surrounding the less viable eggs. Read the study.
