Help your baby remember you

Babies do remember their parents but it's not a super fast process. Research shows that babies remember their mamas scent and voice extremely early on, possibly from birth, but faces are a different matter.

• At about two months he'll start to notice your particular face.
• At about 2-3 months he'll also be able to recognize you if you're both in a familiar place like his bedroom, but may not remember it's you, say, if he sees you walk into the baby daycare to pick him up.
• At around 5 months he'll know your face from other faces. For example, if you walk away at a grocery store and you and another woman approach, he'll spot you and know it's you.

If you want to make sure your baby meets all the recognition building blocks, help him out by always talking to him, smiling nicely when you see him, and whenever he looks up at you smile then as well. Play games like peekaboo and hiding behind the big chair (pop out).
