Most parents wonder about when their little one will sit up, crawl, and walk. What no one tells you is how babies will learn to stand up and then flip out.

This is one of those weird little baby things that you don't know will happen until you've been there. When my son was just learning to walk I'd often find him in this situation - I walk into the room, he'd be standing up, frozen solid, feet planted firmly, and he'd be screaming. Why? This standing and walking deal is new to your baby. He may stand up just fine, and then think, "NOW WHAT?!" Babies don't always know that what goes up can come down. If you catch your baby standing up, holding onto something, or just standing freestyle, and he seems upset, he may not get the mechanics of sitting back down. Try to help your baby by helping him to sit back down. Show him how you go from a standing position to a sitting position. Babies learn new skills quickly, and with your support, your baby will soon be going from sit-stand-sit like a pro.
