You may have heard that formula fed babies sleep longer. If you're thinking that formula sounds pretty good, in trade for a decent night's sleep, you're in for a surprise. Studies (and plenty of my friends) show that while formula fed newborns may sleep a wee bit longer then their breastfed peers, it won't last. Babies past the newborn stage sleep, on average, the same amount of time, formula fed or not. It's also not a big enough difference during the newborn stage to make a difference. You're going to be tired, and lacking sleep no matter how you feed your baby. At least if you're breastfeeding, you can grab your babe super quick and feed him in bed; no getting up to make a bottle. To learn more about breastfeeding your baby read: Breastfeeding tips.
